I'm working on the Localization of VoodooPad tonight. Previously, volunteers would give me translations (in German and French) of the nib files and then I would include them in the project. Worked out great- that is until I decided to update the English .nib files. Then the interface broke and got out of sync with the english version.
Of course, there is a better way of doing this- create what are known as ".strings" files, which you can then use with nibtool to automagicly create your localized .nib files. Works great.
I've almost got the German localization good to go because I was sent the .strings files from a customer, but I'm having troubles with the French version, since I don't have a .strings file for that. I can generate one from the French .nib file, but then it's all in French and I don't understand a lick of French. And I need to understand it so I can put the right keys in... maybe there is a solution in nibtool to do this or something.
All this of course makes me wonder why there isn't a little web application out there that will generate strings files for me. Just a little database that holds english keys + foreign keys that people can contribute to..
"deletePage" = "Seite löschen";
"back" = "Zurück";
"error" = "Fehler";
etc...
